ALI (RADHIYALLAHU ANHU)

Image
ALI (RADHIYALLAHU ANHU) Written by Masha'ikh-e-Chisht Hadhrat Maulana Muhammad Zakariya Sahab (r.a.) In the year 35 Hijri after the shahaadat of Hadhrat Uthman (radhiyallahu anhu) the reigns of the khilaafat were taken up by Hadhrat Ali (karramallahu wajhah). Since he is the external dimension of Rasulullah's spiritual munificence (faidh) in the Chishtiyyah Chains discussion on him is of pivotal importance. His name is Ali and his nicknames were Abu Turab and Abul Hasan. His title is Asadullah (The Lion of Allah). The following is his ancestral tree: Ali the son of Abi Talib the son of Abdul Muttalib the son of Hashim the son of Abd Manaf. His lineage links up with Rasulullah (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) in the third ancestral generation i.e. Abdul Muttalib. It is indeed a wonderful coincidence that the one furthest in ancestral ties (i.e. Abu Bakr) was the closest regarding Khilaafate and the one whose ancestry was closest (i.e. to Nabi-e-Akram) was furthest in the matter of the K

Abdullah Ibn Mas'ood (radhiyallahu anhu)

Abdullah Ibn Mas'ood (radhiyallahu anhu) The sun was blistering hot. There was no hope of attaining water in the harsh mountain passes of Makkah where the blessed Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wasallam and his companion Abu Bakr took a respite from the oppression and the insults of the pagan Makkans. As they penetrated deeper into the passes a great thirst overtook them a thirst that exhausted their bodies and parched their throats. They went further searching for water when they caught sight of a boy driving a flock of sheep. He looked thin and small but at a closer look, he was well in his teens "Young man give us some milk from one of these ewes to quench our thirst " the Prophet said sallallahu alayhi wasallam. "I am not going to do it for I am entrusted with these sheep which belong to Uqbah ibn abi Mu'ait." The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam did not argue and was rather pleased with the youth's honesty. "Then show us a young ewe which has n

BILAL (RADHIYALLAHU ANHU)

Image
BILAL (RADHIYALLAHU ANHU) Hadhrat Bilal (RA) is one of the best known of the galaxy of Sahabah as moazzin of the Prophet's (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) masjid. He was an Abyssinian slave of a disbeliever in Makkah. His conversion to Islam was naturally not liked by his master and he was therefore persecuted mercilessly. Ummayah bin Khalaf who was the worst enemy of Islam would make him lie down on the burning sand at midday and would place a heavy stone on his breast so that he could not even move a limb. He would then say to him: "Renounce Islam or swelter and die." Even under these afflictions, Bilal (RA) would exclaim:- "Ahad"-The One (Allah). "Ahad"-The One (Allah). He was whipped at night and with the cuts thus received made to lie on the burning ground during the day to make him either forsake Islam or to die a lingering death from wounds. The torturers would get tired and take turns (Abu Jahl Umayyah and others) and vie with one another in aff

Rulings regarding marriage outside Islam

Image
Rulings regarding marriage outside Islam By Jamiatul Ulama (Kwazulu-Natal) Some rules and laws for the Muslim man and woman. It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man. It is permissible for a Muslim man to marry a Christian/Jewish woman strictly under these two conditions: 1. She is a true Christian/Jew – not by name and/or ancestral background. 2. She did not renegade from Islam and become a Christian/Jew. NB. Due to some threatening factors, it is discouraged to marry a Christian/Jewish woman. It is perhaps for these factors that Hadhrat Úmar (Radhiyallaahu Ánhu) stopped Muslims during his reign of power to marry Christian/Jewish women. If there is a difference in religion after marriage then four possibilities may arise. * Both spouses were non-Muslims and both simultaneously accepted Islam. * Both were Muslims and both simultaneously became Murtads (renegade from Islam). In the above two situations, the Nikah remains intact. * One becomes a Muslim and the

Etiquette of visiting the sick in Islam

Image
visiting the sick  While visiting the sick earns many rewards, the proper Aadaab (etiquette) must also be observed. Hereunder are some aadaab which are mentioned in and deduced from various Ahadith: * Visit the sick only for the pleasure of Allah, to earn the rewards mentioned, and to console the person. * Do not lengthen the visit. It has been stressed in the Ahadith that the visit should be short. If the sick person himself desires that the visitor should remain longer, there is no harm in it. * Commence the visit by asking about the health of the person. Talk light-hearted things and cheer the person up. It is also narrated that one should mention to him that he will Insha Allah recover and have a long life. Do not speak of such things which will make him despondent or grieve him further. One should mention the incidents of the pious people regarding how they reacted during illness. * Mention to the person that illnesses cause the forgiveness of one’s sins. * Do not c

Uthman-ghani-radhiyallahu-anhu

Image
U thman-ghani-radhiyallahu-anhu Written by Masha'ikh-e-Chisht Hadhrat Maulana Muhammad Zakariya Sahab (r.a.) Hadhrat Uthman (radhiyallahu anhu) is the third Khalifah. He assumed the reigns of the khilafat on a Saturday in Muharram 24 Hijri. He was appointed by the decision of the Ahl-e-Sh'ra (the senior Sahaabah who constituted the Sh'ra committee). According to Hafiz who wrote in Isabah Hadhrat Uthman was born 6 years after the Episode of the Elephants. He accepted Islam as a result of Hadhrat Abu Bakr's efforts. When he accepted Islam Rasulullah (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) gave his daughter Ruqayyah in marriage to him. His blessed name is Uthman and his title is Thun-Nurain (the one with two lights). He was thus titled because Rasulullah's two daughter's Ruqayyah and Umm-e-Kulthoom came into his Nikah one after the other. There is no man besides Hadhrat Uthman who had the good fortune of marrying two daughters of a Nabi. After the demise of Hadhrat Ruqayyah Rasululla

THE STORY OF MALCOLM X EL HAJJ MALIK AL SHABAZZ "I am and always will be a Muslim. My religion is Islam." - Malcolm X  Early Life Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19 1925 in Omaha Nebraska. His mother Louis Norton Little was a homemaker occupied with the family's eight children. His father Earl Little was an outspoken Baptist minister and avid supporter of Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. Earl's civil rights activism prompted death threats from the white supremacist organization Black Legion forcing the family to relocate twice before Malcolm's fourth birthday. Regardless of the Little's efforts to elude the Legion in 1929 their Lansing Michigan home was burned to the ground and two years later Earl's mutilated body was found lying across the town's trolley tracks when Malcolm was only six. A STORY OF A VIETNAMESE REVERT

Image
A STORY OF A VIETNAMESE REVERT I testify that there is no God but Allah I testify that Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah That is the Shahadah I had pronounced from the bottom of my heart in front of a crowed audience at a mosque in the Kingdom of Belgium on the 19th of May 2000 when I just reached the age of 26. I was born and grew up in Hanoi Vietnam. Thanks to the blessings of Allah I was allowed to come to Belgium in 1998 to study for the Master of Science degree in Physical Land Resources. When I was in Vietnam I had a very vague concept of the Creator and often felt very embarrassed to ask myself "where do men and the universe come from?" At that time The Lord or God Adam and Eve for me were simply the characters in children's tales. I have also been told about Allah Muhammad Qur'an and Muslims but I had never thought that these terms are so closely related to each other. Among my classmates in Belgium, some adopted Christianity while some follow the religion
